Ingredients Explained

These ingredients are found in both products.

Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.

What it does: Skin Conditioning
Community Rating: Liked

Snail Secretion Filtrate is the excretion from snails. It is an effective moisturizer and promotes collagen production.

Snail Secretion helps repair the skin barrier, helping the skin stay hydrated. It also contains ingredients that tell the skin to create more collagen such as glycolic acid.

Snail Secretion Filtrate is also great for soothing skin because it also contains allantoin.

On top of this, Snail Secretion Filtrate contains a variety of vitamins and minerals. These include copper peptides, Vitamin A, and vitamin E. Vitamins A and E are antioxidants. Antioxidants help fight free-radicals, molecules that damage skin cells. Fighting off free-radicals can slow the process of wrinkle formation and hyperpigmentation.

Being cruelty-free means a brand does not experiment on animals. If you're worried about the well-being of the snails, we recommend looking more into the company of the product. Many brands have developed humane methods to collect snail mucin.

There is much debate on this subject. On one hand, this ingredient comes from an animal. On the other hand, many will argue the ingredient is naturally secreted (like a natural by-product) and therefore vegan. If you have reservations, you can look into Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate or Centella Asiatica Extract as alternatives.

Loooove this. I want to bathe in it, drink it, and have it's babies.
Definitely a night time cream, gives the skin a dewy wet look, best to put on as a last step - its thick and slimy texture can act as a kind of "slugging" to seal in the rest of your routine.
I probably put on too much, but I don't see a downside besides my wallet. It glides so smoothly and spreads so well over my skin I'm obsessed with how glossy it feels.
And the next morning when I wake up my skin is so happy, so calm, so well moisturized, and so soft, I definitely notice a difference than when I don't use it.
The only thing I didn't like about this product was the packaging. I hate having to dip my fingers in jars. Even if you don't care about the possible contamination, this product has a tendency to always finds its way under fingernails.
But they recently updated the packaging to a squeeze tube! Huzzah! Now there's nothing I don't like about this product!

Edit: After purchasing the new tube packaging...I suspect they may have changed the formula a little bit. The new tube packaging dries a bit faster, and dries with the tiniest feeling of powder. That's the best way I can describe it. Like how some greasier products will use cornstarch to make it not feel so greasy, but you still get this aftertaste of powder film. It's so faint I'm not 100% sure, but I remember the cream in the jar stayed moist and slimey after application longer than this. It could be that it's reacting to something else in my routine, but it does this even on freshly cleansed skin so I don't know. I hope it's not a new formula... I like the slime.

You don’t realize what you have until it’s gone
I’m nearing the end of end of my second jar, so I was trying to conserve it by using this cream more infrequently. I had no idea how much this soothed my skin and was helping with redness until I began using it less and less. It’s such a hydrating formula too, and of course it’s got that classic snail mucin texture so it’s kinda slimy. But I have no issues with that, and I actually really enjoy the consistency as it has no problems sinking into the skin.

The jar packaging is not my favorite however, because this is not a thick cream. HOWEVER recently COSRX began offering this same formula in a tube with twice as much product, so when I repurchase this I am definitely going to go with the tube option (the jar is still available for those who like it). For anyone on the hunt for a soothing and hydrating product, this is wonderful option and I recommend you try it.
