Ingredients Side-by-side
Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterButylene Glycol (or BG) is used within cosmetic products for a few different reasons:
- It is a solvent, meaning that it helps to dissolve other ingredients. This also enhances the absorption of the product into one's skin.
- It is a humectant, which means that it helps attract moisture into the skin.
- It helps improve product application.
Overall, Butylene Glycol is a safe and well-rounded ingredient. It is unlikely to irritate skin, and works well with pretty much all other ingredients.
Phenoxyethanol is a preservative that has germicide, antimicrobial, and aromatic properties. Studies show that phenoxyethanol can prevent microbial growth. By itself, it has a scent that is similar to that of a rose.
It's often used in formulations along with Caprylyl Glycol to preserve the shelf life of products.
Caprylyl Glycol is a humectant and emollient, meaning it attracts and preserves moisture.
It is a common ingredient in many products, especially those designed to hydrate skin. The primary benefits are retaining moisture, skin softening, and promoting a healthy skin barrier.
Though Caprylyl Glycol is an alcohol derived from fatty acids, it is not the kind that can dry out skin.
This ingredient is also used as a preservative to extend the life of products. It has slight antimicrobial properties.
Learn more about Caprylyl GlycolHydroxyacetophenone is antioxidant and helps with skin conditioning.
Antioxidants help fight off free-radical molecules. These unstable molecules may damage your skin cells. By helping stabilize free-radicals, antioxidants may help in anti-aging.
Hydroxyacetophenone boosts the efficiency of other preservatives.
Learn more about HydroxyacetophenoneTocopheryl Acetate is AKA Vitamin E. It is an antioxidant and protects your skin from free radicals. Free radicals damage the skin by breaking down collagen.
One study found using Tocopheryl Acetate with Vitamin C decreased the number of sunburned cells.
Tocopheryl Acetate is commonly found in both skincare and dietary supplements.
Learn more about Tocopheryl AcetateXanthan gum is used as a stabilizer and thickener within cosmetic products. It helps give products a sticky, thick feeling - preventing them from being too runny.
On the technical side of things, xanthan gum is a polysaccharide - a combination consisting of multiple sugar molecules bonded together.
Xanthan gum is a pretty common and great ingredient. It is a natural, non-toxic, non-irritating ingredient that is also commonly used in food products.

Very lightweight and doesn't leave a cast on my (dark) skin! Even at the end of the day my face doesn't feel greasy (at least not more than normal.
It does taste gross when I accidentally get it in my mouth and can also sting a little bit when I get it in my eye.
Overall the best sunscreen I've ever tried.

Love it! I thought a formula like that would break me out, but it hasn't been case. It's has a good proportion of peptides, and other hydrating ingredients like ceramides that leave my skin super plump in the morning without any fine lines.
The texture is also interesting, is more like a hard balm that melts in your skin once you apply it. Some people may not like it as it sits on top of your skin and it takes ages to fully absorb, even pilling if you use any other product on top of it (it has a handful of silicones). But personally it doesn't feel like a problem, as I only use moisturizers at night and I don't follow with any other product.
I also have to admit that I don't love the smells. Is mostly citric, but sweet like a lemon candy, and it has this undertone that reminds me like a plastic or something like that. Plus, it has a LOT of fragrance as many other Olehenriksen products, so be careful those with sensitive skin.
Overall, I give it a good rating as it works great for my skin and my skincare habits and it's also really inexpensive. But you might reconsider buying it if you're sensitive, or you're going to layer it with other products.

Great moisturizer at fantastic value
I really like this moisturizer, great value for the price. My very dry winter skin loves it morning and night. There are other more expensive peptide creams out there that won't give you better results.
