A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.

As a humectant, it helps the skin stay hydrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.

Hydrated skin improves your skin barrier; Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.

Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.

In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.

This ingredient is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.

Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.

Highly effective hydrating encapsulated peptide product with anti oxidant and anti inflammatory power for a low price.

The Nicotiana peptides in this formula are growth factors and signaling peptides. This means they stimulate protein synthesis, the production of epidermal lipids, and collagen production. These peptides are also said to have an retinoid like efficacy for collagen production. Show more

I use this as my daily moisturizer and love that it is packed with peptides and growth factors. The research is still not solid on those particular ingredients - other than that they are hydrating - but the price point on this product and how good it feels on my skin makes it feel like a worthwhile experiment. It takes a few minutes to soak in but once it does, it looks and feels good.

I tossed this in the bin. Shame, I like the texture and the metal tube packaging but after using nightly for a few weeks my skin was bumpy and irritated enough to be embarrassing. Not for me!
