Ingredients Explained

These ingredients are found in both products.

Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.

Skin Conditioning, Solvent

Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.

So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.

You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!

Learn more about Water

Sodium Phytate is the synthetic salt form of phytic acid. Phytic acid is an antioxidant and can be found in plant seeds.

Sodium Phytate is a chelating agent. Chelating agents help prevent metals from binding to water. This helps stabilize the ingredients and the product.

Skin Conditioning

Caffeine is most associated with coffee, tea, and cacao. In skincare, it helps with calming inflammation and is rich in antioxidants.

While caffeine is used to treat cellulite and and dark circles, further studies are needed to prove this. It has been believed to help with these skin conditions due to its ability to dilate blood vessels and increase blood flow.

Some studies are looking into caffeine's ability to protect against UV rays.

Emollient, Emulsifying, Emulsion Stabilising

Cetyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol. Fatty Alcohols are most often used as an emollient or to thicken a product.

Its main roles are:

Though it has "alcohol" in the name, it is not related to denatured alcohol or ethyl alcohol. The FDA allows products labeled "alcohol-free" to have fatty alcohols.

Emollient, Emulsifying, Skin Conditioning

Lecithin is a term for a group of substances found in the cell membranes of plants, animals, and humans. They are made up of mixture of phospholipids.

This ingredient has emollient and emulsifying properties.

As an emollient, lecithen helps soften the skin and creates a barrier to keep moisture in.

As an emulsifier, it also helps prevent water and oil ingredients from separating. Lecithin can also help ingredients be better absorbed by the skin.

This is because the phospholipids in lecithin produce liposomes. Liposomes help other ingredients get through the skin barrier.

Depending on the source of this ingredient, lecithin may not be fungal acne safe. This is because some sources of lecithin come from soybean oil, which may feed the malassezia yeast that feeds fungal acne.

We recommend reaching out to the brand you are purchasing from to inquire about the source of their lecithin.

If you don't have sensitive skin, go for it. Only eye cream I've used that I actually saw results, but was too irritating for me :(

It’s okay, looking at the ingredients I feel lucky it didn’t irritate me more, bc I have sensitive skin, but it did definitely dry my under eyes out a bit. Also the results were mid, nothing that special for the price so def not a repurchase. My mom likes it a lot though, so I think it might be better for anti-aging purposes / aging skin than addressing my concerns which are mainly dark circles / Show more

although this product felt really nice and hydrating for my under eyes, it didn’t really do anything for them in the long run. i have somewhat prominent dark circles and some fine lines under them. I was hoping that this would help reduce them or at least make my eyes look more alive, but it didn’t. i used this for around five months and didn’t notice any difference for my under eyes, and it was Show more

It really works
I've been using this for a bit more than a week now and I can definitely see a difference. My under eyes get puffy easily, and sometimes they look slightly pink because I'm really pale (I don't get "dark circles"). This cream however really helps depuff my under eyes almost instantly and definitely helps with a complexion a bit as well.
