Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterGlycerin is already naturally found in your skin. It helps moisturize and protect your skin.
A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.
As a humectant, it helps the skin stay hydrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.
Hydrated skin improves your skin barrier; Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.
Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.
In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.
This ingredient is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.
Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.
Learn more about GlycerinSodium Citrate is the sodium salts of citric acid. In skincare, it is used to alter pH levels and acts as a preservative.
Sodium Citrate helps maintain the pH of a product. Normal pH level of skin is slightly acidic (~4.75-5.5). The acidity of our skin is maintained by our glands and skin biome. Being slightly acidic allows our skin to create an "acid mantle". This acid mantle is a thin barrier that protects our skin from bacteria and contaminants.
Sodium Citrate is a chelating agent. It neutralizes metal ions from water and prevents them from binding to other ingredients. This ensures the other ingredients will not be altered.
Learn more about Sodium CitrateCitric Acid is an AHA derived from citrus fruits (think oranges, lemons, and limes!).
As an AHA, Citric Acid removes the top layer of skin cells from the newer layer of skin underneath. This helps skin to remove dark spots and even out skin tone.
If you spot Citric Acid near the end of an ingredient list, it's likely there as a pH adjuster rather than an active ingredient.

Learn more about Citric AcidDisodium EDTA plays a role in making products more stable by aiding other preservatives.
It is a chelating agent, meaning it neutralizes metal ions that may be found in a product.
Disodium EDTA is a salt of edetic acid and is found to be safe in cosmetic ingredients.

I just finished this as I’m writing this review. First, very hydrating and I love the smell. It’s nothing strong though. It’s full of essence and big the pads are big. Using it daily (only morning) lasted me for about 2-3 months which is great. In terms of skin, I feel like it does clear up some blemishes but takes time. You have to use it everyday but don’t expect a miracle overnight.I use it as a toner in the day (do not use this with a toner as it can be a bit heavy for oily acne people) and then layer my AXIS-Y correcting spot treatment on top. It does a great job. It makes you feel fresh and good. would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a daily pick me up.
A tip with any toner pads, is to use it as a sheet mask and leave it on for 4-5 minutes.

I really don't understand the magic behind it: If you check the formula, as many other Clarins products, there aren't many active ingredients to help with any specific concerns. It's just some plant derivatives and tons of fragrances and perfume. But still, every single time I use it, it provides a very natural and healthy glow to my skin, even clearing out some of my milder acne and feeling hydrating (although it might not be enough for dry skin people).
I think is great for almost every skin type (except for very dry or sensitive, I guess) specially for oily people like me, as it's super lightweight without any stickiness or pilling, and it layers great with any product. And overall, It has a great price that makes it worth the try.
