There are two forms of panthenol: D and L.
D-panthenol is also known as dexpanthenol. Most cosmetics use dexpanthenol or a mixture of D and L-panthenol.

Like hyaluronic acid, panthenol is a humectant. Humectants are able to bind and hold large amounts of water to keep skin hydrated.
This ingredient works well for wound healing. It works by increasing tissue in the wound and helps close open wounds.
Once oxidized, panthenol converts to pantothenic acid. Panthothenic acid is found in all living cells.
This ingredient is also referred to as pro-vitamin B5.

UPDATED REVIEW: unfortunately, this eventually started to break me out. I suspect butylene glycol and squalane being high in concentration is what gave me trouble. I have extremely sensitive and acne prone skin though, so I still stand by Purito as a brand and this particular product, itโs just not for meโฆ *cries* I love how it made my skin glow aside from the breakouts. I started this when my skin in summer 2023 when I had a severely damaged skin barrier. In the fall as the weather changed I combined it with Purito Dermide. (I stopped using it in the winter and used Purito Dermide only.) Now in the late spring I am using it again in my morning routine. It is light, soothing, helps with redness, brightens my skin and a great product.

This is my first and absolute holy grail ๐๐. I have wasted so much time, money and energy trying a million different moisturisers. My skin type is dry, sensitive and rosacea prone the requirements I needed in a moisturiser were:
1. All day hydration and calming
2. Little to no fragrance or naturally fragrance.
3. Something I could use both day AND night.
