The source of squalane may impact malassezia / fungal acne. This is because olive oil derived squalane can contain impurities such as fatty acids and plant waxes. Sugarcane derived squalane is recommended for anyone with malassezia concerns.

This depends on the source. Squalane can be derived from both plants and animals. Most squalane used in skincare comes from plants.

My focus for the past 6-8 weeks has been skin barrier support. I needed a total package PM moisturizer that (1) wouldn't break me out, (2) wouldn't leave me greasy/sticky, (3) wouldn't cause any burning sensations, and (4) didn't include random exfoliants that would irritate me further. It feels and looks luxurious but not great for sensitive skin. If you have very dry and/or sensitive skin it burns. Also very expensive for what it is. There are much better moisturizers out there for much less money.

Can't use on my face. Oily skin. If I use thick moisturizers on my face, my pores get congested. And I know it's oil-free but it's a liittttle too thick for me personally (might be perfect for someone else's face, especially if they have dry skin).
