Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterGlycerin is already naturally found in your skin. It helps moisturize and protect your skin.
A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.
As a humectant, it helps the skin stay hydrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.
Hydrated skin improves your skin barrier; Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.
Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.
In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.
This ingredient is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.
Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.
Learn more about GlycerinButylene Glycol (or BG) is used within cosmetic products for a few different reasons:
- It is a solvent, meaning that it helps to dissolve other ingredients. This also enhances the absorption of the product into one's skin.
- It is a humectant, which means that it helps attract moisture into the skin.
- It helps improve product application.
Overall, Butylene Glycol is a safe and well-rounded ingredient. It is unlikely to irritate skin, and works well with pretty much all other ingredients.
Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is a cleansing agent made from a mixture of long chain sulfonate salts. It can also help produce foam.
This ingredient may be drying. We recommend speaking with a professional if you have concerns.

UPDATED 11 July 2024 (TL;DR below):
This cleanser comes in a simple squeeze bottle, which was convenient for when I completely finished it; There was no struggle to get the last bits out. Godsend.
The brand claims the cleanser melts makeup, clear pores, and tackles dark spots, zits, and dehydration. I can say with confidence it helped with the last two. The more frequently I cleaned my face (sometimes I’d slack off), the less my skin broke out. The correlation was clear as day. Not sure what exactly was doing it, but the formula was effective at sebum (i.e. face oil) control. (Or maybe that was the surfactants- the ingredients that do the actual cleansing- simply doing their job? Who knows…)
Snail Mucin is the love of my life and will always be there to protect my skin from the tragedy that is TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss, i.e. water that evaporates from your skin), so, with confidence, I can accredit this cleanser’s success with hydration to having Snail Mucin in this formula.
As for melting makeup, it did just as well as any cleanser could. I still used a micellar pad after I washed my face because the cleanser wasn’t thorough enough, and I don’t even wear base makeup. Just some blush, light eye makeup, and lip products. (In all fairness, I don’t rub my eyes when I use any cleanser.) Same for pore care- my face felt less grimy after washing, but that applies to most cleansers. So, overall, the cleanser *kinda* works as intended.
As for how it worked for *me*, I enjoyed using it! There are a lot of safe ingredients in the formula for me, so it made it a comfort to use. I would buy this again had the cleanser of my dreams not stolen my heart… alas. It’s probably safe for most people and it lasted a long time (though, if you’re one of those people who are extra diligent about skincare and *actually* follow through every day, you’ll probably go through it faster). I got it at Walmart for ~$13 dollars, so pretty solid investment on my part! The cleanser itself is a gel that has makes a thick lather with water. It’s far from stripping, though my skin did feel more taut when I used it through the winter months.
The only thing holding me back from making this a five-star product was this feeling… When the cleanser was in its last stretch of life, I couldn’t wait to be done with it and try something else. I guess its novelty just wore off? It just seemed to stop improving my skin after prolonged use. Maybe I stopped seeing the benefit in using it because it was so routine… I’m certain if I’d stopped using it I would notice the difference right away, but it stopped exciting me pretty quickly; This could just be me being ungrateful for the tried-and-true nature of this cleanser. However, there are products I’ve been using for MONTHS that I still feel excitement about- JUMISO’s Snail EX Ultimate Boost Facial Essence, for instance. So it can’t just be me, right?
Well, Peach Slices’s Snail Rescue Purifying Cleanser… in another life! :)
TL;DR: Gentle gel cleanser that doesn’t overly strip the skin’s oils, good value for the quality, would work well for most people looking for a hydrating, oil-regulating face wash, seems to lose efficacy after prolonged use.
Old review below:
This product is really great at getting all of the excess gunk and oils off of my face. My skin always feels refreshed after using it. In the winter months, however, my skin feels tighter after using it compared to using it in warmer weather, where my skin just felt clean and balanced.
