Hydrogenated Lecithin is created from the hydrogenation of lecithin (a group of phospholipids). Hydrogenation is a chemical reaction between hydrogen and another element.
This ingredient is an emollient and emulsifier. As an emollient, it helps soften skin by trapping moisture within. As an emulsifier, it prevents oil and water ingredients from separating.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.

Light but moisturizing
I now understand the praise this product has received because now it is one of my favorites too! The consistency is more on the watery side, so I was surprised that not only is this product hydrating, but moisturizing as well because it is very effective at locking in that hydration. Honestly, I wanted to love this product. It did help with redness and hydration. But I fear this was part of my face feeling a burning sensation when I added moisturizer on top of it…
I was wary of trying this, as I absolutely despise BYOMA’s brightening toner, but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth all the Internet hype, especially considering how cost effective it is compared to most other milky toners. Quite light and immediately hydrating. This is definitely going to be my staple winter toner.
