Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it's there to help dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. Talk about multi-purpose! If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!

Glycerin is already naturally found in your skin and helps moisturize and protect your skin. A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.
Glycerin is a humectant, helping the skin stay hyrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.
Having moisturized skin helps improve the skin barrier. Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.
Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.
In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.
Glycerin is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.
Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.

Niacinamide has emerged as an all-star ingredient due to its many benefits.
It is known to treat acne by reducing inflammation. It also helps fade dark-spots and strengthen the skin by promoting the growth of the ceramide barrier.
Other benefits include smoothing wrinkles and minimizing redness.
Niacinamide can also help build keratin, a protein that keeps skin firm.
When incorporating Niacinamide into your routine, look out for concentration amounts. Typically, 5% Niacinamide provides benefits such as fading dark spots. However, if you have sensitive skin, it is better to begin with a smaller concentration.
Niacinamide can be mixed with other ingredients to boost benefits. For instance, it has shown to be effective when used with copper, folic acid, and zinc to treat acne.

Propylene Glycol is an odorless, colorless liquid. As a humectant, it helps skin retain moisture. It also aids in delivering active ingredients, helping other ingredients work better.
It prevents a product from melting or freezing. Propylene glycol also adds antimicrobrial properties to a product, elongating product lifespan.
Propylene Glycol is considered an organic alcohol and commonly added into both cosmetics and foods.
Those with sensitive skin or conditions may deliver a rash when using this ingredient. It is best to consult a professional for advice.

Ceramide NP is one type of ceramide.
Ceramides are intercellular lipids naturally found in our skin that bonds dead skin cells together to create a barrier. They are known for their ability to hold water and thus are a great ingredient for dry skin.
Ceramides are an important building block for our skin barrier. A stronger barrier helps the skin look more firm and hydrated. By bolstering the skin ceramides act as a barrier against irritating ingredients. This can help with inflammation as well.
If you would like to eat ceramides, sweet potatoes contain a small amount.

Citric Acid is an AHA derived from citrus fruits (think oranges, lemons, and limes!). A small amount is used in formulas to adjust the pH of products. In higher concentrations, it can exfoliate skin.
As an AHA, Citric Acid removes the top layer of skin cells from the newer layer of skin underneath. This helps skin to remove dark spots and look more even.

I’ve been using it almost for year. It clears my skin and it doesn’t break me out but I think it’s too drying for me. I have sensitive combo skin and every time I use my skin feels slightly tight. The reason I was using it for soo long is because I didn’t realised that tight feeling wasn’t normal. So maybe it’s better for more oily skin.
from MirqI do like this cleanser I use it in the shower. But be careful it can leave your skin feeling stripped, dry and tight if you don't follow up with a good moisturizer. Wouldn't recommend for daily use unless you have extremely oily skin that is never dry
from LucyL_962It makes my face to feel refreshed. However it seems that it doesn't do anything to my acne prone. I think that it's good if you have only an oily skin.

Used the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser Normal to Oily Skin for years and didn't think there was something better around this price tag like an idiot. I saw a bunch of good reviews and heard the hype around La Roche Posay but my god its so true. This changed my skin!! I used to get clogged pores all around my chin, nose, and forehead from being oily af. Turns out the CeraVe wasn't actually cleaning my pores, just the surface of my skin. This also made my skin so soft?? Baby smooth?? Was a little wor...
from emmagracesan24I used this for a while hoping to get good results but my skin didn't take it well. After about 2 months it completely ruined my skin. After doing some research I was sensitive to some ingredients in this and found out my skin does take well to Niacinamide and some other ingredients in this.
from MarimosaI have really oily skin. For the first few uses it was amazing and helped clear up my skin, after about a month it began to strip away moisture and I noticed my skin feeling extremely dry after using. I kept using it and now it’s not as drying but I can still feel a slight lack of moisture but that’s fixed by a good moisturizer.
