Avobenzone is globally approved and is the most commonly used UV-A filter in the world.
Studies have found that avobenzone becomes ineffective when exposed to UV light (it is not photostable; meaning that it breaks down in sunlight). Because of this, formulations that include avobenzone will usually contain stabilizers such as octocrylene.
However, some modern formulations (looking at you, EU!) are able to stabilize avobenzone by coating the molecules.
Avobenzone does not protect against the UV-B range, so it's important to check that the sunscreen you're using contains other UV filters that do!
The highest concentration of avobenzone permitted is 3% in the US, and 5% in the EU.

This is my holy grail daily sunscreen. I am neurodivergent and have sensory issues and I cannot stand greasy sunscreen on my face unless I am out in the sun and water all day. This goes on smoothly and feels like a primer if you touch it, but I can’t feel it on my face after I put it on. No sunburn yet while using it and I am super pale and the sun hates me. This is also super affordable at Trader Joe’s though with daily use I go through a tube decently quickly.

Could not get over the sensation
I have mixed feeling about this one but ultimately it's a no go. I liked it applies matte and does not make my already oily skin look shiny. However when applying the correct amount for SPF coverage it's very slippery and does not absorb. I can feel it on my skin all day, just a film of sunscreen, which is technically what it's supposed to do but the sensation was too heavy. I have the same problem with Supergoop Unseen sunscreen which this one is supposed to be a dupe of.
