Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is an emollient, solvent, and texture enhancer. It is considered a skin-softener by helping the skin prevent moisture loss.
Within a product, Caprylic Triglyceride can thicken the product and make spreadability easier by dissolving clumping compounds. An added benefit of Caprylic Triglyceride is its antioxidant properties.
Caprylic Triglyceride is made by combining glycerin with coconut oil, forming a clear liquid. Caprylic Triglyceride has not been found to be toxic for human use in concentrations under 50%.
While there is an assumption Caprylic Triglyceride can clog pores due to it being derived from coconut oil, there is no research supporting this.
Learn more about Caprylic/Capric TriglycerideWater. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterPhenoxyethanol is a preservative that has germicide, antimicrobial, and aromatic properties. Studies show that phenoxyethanol can prevent microbial growth. By itself, it has a scent that is similar to that of a rose.
It's often used in formulations along with Caprylyl Glycol to preserve the shelf life of products.

It's a bit pricey for a cleanser, but I have yet to find a cheaper cleansing balm that performs equally well (the only ones I've tried that perform as well as this are more expensive), though these days I can rarely be bothered to test new ones given how perfect this is and how many others have been disappointing, to say the least.
This melts on the skin so easily, removes everything without too much rubbing, emulsifies beautifully and rinses off completely clean, with or without using a cleansing cloth. No second cleanse needed for me. Leaves my skin feeling so clean yet not at all stripped or tight.

I wanted to love this cleansing balm as it melted away make up and left my skin feeling fresh, but sadly after using it for a few months I realised it was breaking me out due to the ethylhexyl palmitate.

not for oily/acne prone skin
bought this cleanser and moisturizer and after reviewing the ingredients, we also believe the oleic and stearic acid (which alot of BYOMA products have) made my boyfriend (sensitive/acne prone/oily skin) have soooo many break outs so we will be replacing these products immediately. I will continue to use the products as I have normal skin so so far so good no major changes.

i had such high hopes for this brand and cleanser and it did feel nice at first. it's not stripping and gets the job done, but ever since i started using this cleanser along with the gel moisturizer from byoma, i started breaking out. i had no issues with their clarifying and brightening serums but i checked my whole routine to see why i am breaking out so much and i think the sodium chloride in this cleanser and the oleic acid in literally almost all of byoma's products are partially responsible for this. it could be something else but i personally won't be repurchasing anything from them just in case it really was their products breaking me out.
