Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is an emollient, solvent, and texture enhancer. It is considered a skin-softener by helping the skin prevent moisture loss.
Within a product, Caprylic Triglyceride can thicken the product and make spreadability easier by dissolving clumping compounds. An added benefit of Caprylic Triglyceride is its antioxidant properties.
Caprylic Triglyceride is made by combining glycerin with coconut oil, forming a clear liquid. Caprylic Triglyceride has not been found to be toxic for human use in concentrations under 50%.
While there is an assumption Caprylic Triglyceride can clog pores due to it being derived from coconut oil, there is no research supporting this.
Learn more about Caprylic/Capric TriglycerideSorbeth-30 Tetraoleate is a surfactant and emulsifier. It is part of the PEG Sorbitan/Sorbitol Fatty Acid Esters group. As an emulsifier, it helps ingredients such as oil and water mix together. This allows the dirt and oils in your skin to be washed away.
Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate has a molecular weight of 30.
Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate is a tetraester from oleic acid and polyethylene glycol ether of sorbitol.
One study found pumpkin oil containing Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate helped hydrate the skin and did not cause any irritation.
Learn more about Sorbeth-30 TetraoleateWater. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterPhenoxyethanol is a preservative that has germicide, antimicrobial, and aromatic properties. Studies show that phenoxyethanol can prevent microbial growth. By itself, it has a scent that is similar to that of a rose.
It's often used in formulations along with Caprylyl Glycol to preserve the shelf life of products.

It's a bit pricey for a cleanser, but I have yet to find a cheaper cleansing balm that performs equally well (the only ones I've tried that perform as well as this are more expensive), though these days I can rarely be bothered to test new ones given how perfect this is and how many others have been disappointing, to say the least.
This melts on the skin so easily, removes everything without too much rubbing, emulsifies beautifully and rinses off completely clean, with or without using a cleansing cloth. No second cleanse needed for me. Leaves my skin feeling so clean yet not at all stripped or tight.

I wanted to love this cleansing balm as it melted away make up and left my skin feeling fresh, but sadly after using it for a few months I realised it was breaking me out due to the ethylhexyl palmitate.
