Ingredients Explained

These ingredients are found in both products.

Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.

Emollient, Humectant, Skin Conditioning

Caprylyl Glycol is a humectant and emollient, meaning it attracts and preserves moisture.

It is a common ingredient in many products, especially those designed to hydrate skin. The primary benefits are retaining moisture, skin softening, and promoting a healthy skin barrier.

Though Caprylyl Glycol is an alcohol derived from fatty acids, it is not the kind that can dry out skin.

This ingredient is also used as a preservative to extend the life of products. It has slight antimicrobial properties.

Skin Conditioning

Ethylhexylglycerin (we can't pronounce this either) is commonly used as a preservative and skin softener. It is derived from glyceryl.

You might see Ethylhexylglycerin often paired with other preservatives such as phenoxyethanol. Ethylhexylglycerin has been found to increase the effectiveness of these other preservatives.

If you have combination skin I would not recommend this. The first few uses I did enjoy as I wanted to repair some barrier damage, but after leaving it on overnight once it irritated my skin and enlarged my pores. I guess that is par for the course with an oil.

I love this product. It has become a staple in my routine. It's such a shame they increased the price, but I rotate between this one and the ordinary multipeptide with copper. It's the perfect consistency and it does not get sticky, but it needs to be applied scarcely (around 4 drops). My skin loves this serum and it makes the skin hydrated without creating any excess oil. It does not trigger any Show more

It’s water based and firms my skin. My skin loves it. I also like Bare Minerals Herb Serum as it has niacinamide and my skin loves that too. Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3 and 6 also. Elemis pro rad cream wash and dynamic resurf and kefir mist
