Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterGlycerin is already naturally found in your skin. It helps moisturize and protect your skin.
A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.
As a humectant, it helps the skin stay hydrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.
Hydrated skin improves your skin barrier; Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.
Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.
In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.
This ingredient is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.
Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.
Learn more about GlycerinDisodium EDTA plays a role in making products more stable by aiding other preservatives.

This was hydrating, but that's where the positives end. For a "hydrating" cleanser this has THREE harsh irritating alcohols and two of them are in the first five ingredients (they're in higher concentrations than most of the other ingredients). I was upset to realize this was probably causing my breakouts. CeraVe's quality really tanked and most people who are using them probably don't realize it's causing problems for their skin.

Boring, But No Replacement... Yet.
Boring is a great word to describe it. It doesn’t cleanse my skin, so I’d never use it on an evening after I’ve worn sunscreen or makeup. I typically use it when my skin is feeling dry and I don’t feel like putting water on my face, but I have to. I don’t feel any special hydrating effects after using this, but every other “hydrating” cleanser on the market makes my skin break out. My allergy prone skin can’t handle Coco-Betaine, Coco-Glucoside, and Chamomile but I guess those are brand’s favorite hydrators. Somebody please recommend an alternative! Someone please create an alternative!
I just added B.Lab to my wish list. looking forward to seeing how South Korea tackles hydrating!

Good for fungal acne but it’s pretty drying. I have dry skin so it’s not the best for me. I’ll be finishing the bottle I have then switching out for something less drying. It’s been good on my fungal acne journey, plus it’s not irritating on my sensitive skin. It’s got simple ingredients but yeah.. drying.

I bought this product thinking it was going to become a staple on my routine, it had so many good qualities, it was fungal acne safe and non comedogenic. The first time I tried it it burned my skin and eyes, but I decided to give it another try and I was really pleased as it got rid of almost most of my fungal acne HOWEVER its very drying! I think it broke my skin barrier, won't repurchase for real... its cheap and somewhat good but I guess don't try if you have sensitive or combo skin.
