Ingredients Explained
These ingredients are found in both products.
Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.
Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.
So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.
You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!
Learn more about WaterPropanediol helps absorb ingredients into your skin, boosting their benefits. It can act as an emollient, making your skin softer. Propanediol can help products last longer by boosting the properties of preservatives within the formulation.
Propanediol is not likely to cause sensitivity and considered safe to use.
It is derived from corn or petroleum with a clear color and no scent.
Learn more about PropanediolNiacinamide has emerged as an all-star ingredient due to its many benefits.
It is known to treat acne by reducing inflammation. It also helps fade dark-spots and strengthen the skin by promoting the growth of the ceramide barrier.
Other benefits include smoothing wrinkles and minimizing redness.
The cherry on top? Niacinamide can also help build keratin, a protein that keeps skin firm.
When incorporating niacinamide into your routine, look out for concentration amounts. Typically, 5% niacinamide provides benefits such as fading dark spots. However, if you have sensitive skin, it is better to begin with a smaller concentration.
Niacinamide can be mixed with other ingredients to boost benefits. For instance, it has shown to be effective when used with copper, folic acid, and zinc to treat acne.
Learn more about NiacinamideArtemisia Annua Extract comes from a plant more commonly known as annual mugwort.
Artemisia Annua contains flavonoids, a potent antioxidant. Ongoing studies are looking at its ability to increase wound-healing and soothe the skin.
This ingredient has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to help reduce fever.
Fun fact: Artemisia Annua Extract is used to treat Malaria due to its natural anti-malarial properties. The scientist who discovered this has been awarded a Nobel Prize in Medicine.
Learn more about Artemisia Annua ExtractXylitylglucoside is created from xylitol and glucose, two humectants.
Not surprisingly, this ingredient is also a humectant. It attracts and holds water in your skin, helping to maintain hydration.
This ingredient is most commonly found in a popular trio called Aquaxyl. Aquaxyl is made up of anhydroxylitol(24 - 34%), xylitylglucoside (35 - 50%), and xylitol (5 - 15%).
According to a manufacturer, Aquaxyl is known for a 3-D hydration concept and an anti-dehydration shield to reinforce the outer layer of skin.
Learn more about XylitylglucosideThis ingredient is created from dehydrating xylitol in acidic conditions. Xylitol is a famous sugar and humectant.
Much like its predecessor, anhydroxylitol is a humectant. Humectants attract and hold water to moisturize the skin.

According to a manufacturer, Aquaxyl is known for a 3-D hydration concept and an anti-dehydration shield to reinforce the outer layer of skin.
This ingredient is often derived from plants such as wood and sugarcane.
Learn more about AnhydroxylitolXylitol is a humectant and prebiotic. It can help with dry skin.
In studies, xylitol has been shown to improve dry skin. It decreased transepidermal water loss, or when water passes through the skin and evaporates. Xylitol also showed to help improve the biomechanical properties of the skin barrier.
The prebiotic property of xylitol may also help reinforce our skin's natural microbiome. Having a healthy microbiome prevents infection by bad bacteria and helps with hydration.
As a humectant, Xylitol helps draw moisture from both the air and from deeper skin layers. This helps keep skin hydrated.
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol and commonly used as a sugar substitute. It is naturally occurring in plants such as strawberries and pumpkin.
Learn more about Xylitol1,2-Hexanediol is a multi-tasker ingredient. It acts as a preservative to increase shelf-life and can aid other preservatives in preventing microbe growth. 1,2-Hexanediol also helps the skin retain moisture as a humectant.
In products that are water-based, this ingredient can help stabilize perfumes and fragrances. It can also help make the texture of products softer and more smooth.
Caprylyl Glycol is a humectant and emollient, meaning it attracts and preserves moisture.
It is a common ingredient in many products, especially those designed to hydrate skin. The primary benefits are retaining moisture, skin softening, and promoting a healthy skin barrier.
Though Caprylyl Glycol is an alcohol derived from fatty acids, it is not the kind that can dry out skin.
This ingredient is also used as a preservative to extend the life of products. It has slight antimicrobial properties.

I actually already had my HG moisturizer set on Skinsort but wow.. I took a risk and bought this moisturizer the second I found it on here bc there's a limited selection of FA safe moisturizers that actually do the work.
It's expensive but my skin is so so so sensitive and reactive, it's worth it to me to have a moisturizer that doesn't burn/doesn't break me out/doesn't make me red&irritated. It's a very thick gel and so I make sure I apply it literally the second I pat my skin after washing so that I lock in the moisture. I swear after 10 seconds of having this on, my skin is calmed of any redness and it gives such a nice finish to the skin, like glass skin. I had a situation with tretinoin, it gave me perioral dermatitis and I suspect I had a retinol burn as well (my face hurt to move, it was bad), so I stopped using it and this thing here saved my skin barrier and is constantly improving my skin somehow. I'm shook and very very happy!! (Caution: it might not be moisturizing enough for dry skin and it's a bit sticky)

This is the ONLY moisturizer I've ever used that doesn't make me break out. I have combo hormonal acne and have also struggled with fungal acne breakouts in the past. This has a really unique texture in that's it's a thick gel but it hydrates like a cream. If you're super sensitive or acne prone it's definitely worth a try.

Good for Oily Skin
I am usually oily in the T-Zone area. Before using this product, I always found my face oily every morning when I wake up. But when I started using this, the oiliness on my face lessened. I love this product.
