Oryza Sativa Extract comes from the rice grain, Oryza sativa. Rice extract has wound healing, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hydrating properties.
Rice grains contain numerous antioxidants which may help with anti-aging, such as vitamin E. Antioxidants help stabilize free-radical molecules. Unstable free-radical molecules may damage your skin cells and accelerate signs of aging.
A study from 2002 found rice to help increase the rate of wound healing. The same study found an improvement of skin barrier function in the patients after taking rice baths.
Numerous in-vitro studies have found rice water to help decrease sun damage by increasing collagen production and inhibiting the process of tyrosinase.
Long story short- tyrosinase is an enzyme that controls melanin production. Our bodies start producing melanin (AKA tanning) when exposed to UV radiation to protect against damage. Rice water is found to partially block this process.
Though more research is needed on rice's ability to help with UV protection, recent studies seem promising.

I now understand the praise this product has received because now it is one of my favorites too! The consistency is more on the watery side, so I was surprised that not only is this product hydrating, but moisturizing as well because it is very effective at locking in that hydration. This toner is able to accomplish this without feeling too heavy on the face. I also noticed an improvement in skin tone evenness and brightness while using this product. I would recommend this product to just about anyone as it is very gentle. (just remember to shake it first before applying, as it separates when left still in the bottle)

Rice water is rich in minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants, and it is known to brighten skin, reduce scars, increase general skin elasticity, and soothe irritated, sensitive skin. It also has oil-controlling and hydrating qualities. The milky toner absorbs quickly. I apply 1 - 7 layers (7 skins method) and get a wonderful, super hydrated (even moisturised) result. The vegan and cruelty-free toner comes in a plastic bottle and cardboard FSC-mix packaging.
