What it does: Antioxidant, Masking, Skin Conditioning
Community Rating: Liked

Tocopherol (also known as Vitamin E) is a common antioxidant used to help protect the skin from free-radicals and strengthen the skin barrier. It's also fat soluble - this means our skin is great at absorbing it.

Vitamin E also helps keep your natural skin lipids healthy. Your lipid skin barrier naturally consists of lipids, ceramides, and fatty acids. Vitamin E offers extra protection for your skin’s lipid barrier, keeping your skin healthy and nourished.

Another benefit is a bit of UV protection. Vitamin E helps reduce the damage caused by UVB rays. (It should not replace your sunscreen). Combining it with Vitamin C can decrease sunburned cells and hyperpigmentation after UV exposure.

You might have noticed Vitamin E + C often paired together. This is because it is great at stabilizing Vitamin C. Using the two together helps increase the effectiveness of both ingredients.

There are often claims that Vitamin E can reduce/prevent scarring, but these claims haven't been confirmed by scientific research.

Good First Cleansing Balm
This cleansing balm is effective at removing waterproof mascara and sunscreen. However, it can slightly sting the eyes when removing make up and does not emulsify after water is added. You must use a second cleanser to fully rinse away the oiling feeling.

I recently tried this cleansing balm after seeing it at Target, thinking it would be a cost-effective option. Unfortunately, after just three days, I experienced increasing discomfort, even some stinging. The irritation worsened, affecting products that used to be fine for my skin. The aftermath is a noticeable rosy hue on my cheeks that I now need to address. As someone with medium skin coloring, makeup can't even conceal it. I wouldn't recommend this product, and I've decided against passing it on to my sister to spare her from potential pain. The smell was nice. I like the consistency but that’s about it. Thank goodness for a generous return policy because this is a never again for me.

Well, it is gentle, but I didn't like the experience. Usually, my cleansing balms and oils emulsify as soon as I start adding water on my face, and wash off nicely. However, this one somehow doesn't... Even after double cleansing. Perhaps a stronger second cleanser would help, but my skin only tolerates milky washes/cleansers. I would have given it three stars, but the strong, off-putting smell just adds to the 'meh' effect.

It's the only oil-based cleanser without clogg-poring ingredients that I could find and at a good price point. Of course it leaves an oily residue behind, bul all balms do. Nothing a water-based cleanser can't solve afterwards, we should do the double-cleansing anyways.
It would be better to change the package into a pump system, it would be less messy and more practical.
