Ingredients Explained

These ingredients are found in both products.

Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.

Masking, Skin Conditioning

This ingredient is an emollient, solvent, and texture enhancer. It is considered a skin-softener by helping the skin prevent moisture loss.

It helps thicken a product's formula and makes it easier to spread by dissolving clumping compounds.

Caprylic Triglyceride is made by combining glycerin with coconut oil, forming a clear liquid.

While there is an assumption Caprylic Triglyceride can clog pores due to it being derived from coconut oil, there is no research supporting this.

Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate is a surfactant and emulsifier.

This ingredient is a tetraester from oleic acid and polyethylene glycol ether of sorbitol.

As an emulsifier, it helps ingredients such as oil and water mix together. This allows the dirt and oils in your skin to be washed away.

One study found pumpkin oil containing Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate helped hydrate the skin and did not cause any irritation.

I feel like this cleansing oil is perfect for those with dryer skin. However, for my sensitive, acne prone skin that leans more towards combination/oily, this oil made me break out. It’s a very thick formula that’s hard to wash off, even with a second cleanser. Because of this, I find myself rubbing my face and eyes a lot harder, and scrubbing with a lot more effort than usual. It removes makeup well, and I loved that it didn’t make my eyes feel blurry when I opened them!

Pros:
• Very lightweight, easy to wash off, and doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry

Cons:
• Over the past couple of days, I’ve noticed a few closed comedones appear on my cheeks, and I feel like the cleansing oil might be causing this issue since it’s the only new product I’ve introduced into my routine. I also follow up with a water-based cleanser to ensure that my skin is cleansed Show more
