Petroleum Jelly is one product I believe is quite underrated in the general skincare community due to hasty generalizations about its safety. Petroleum jelly is composed of mineral oils and waxes (i.e., paraffin wax) which can be generalized as mostly long-chain hydrocarbons that act as a hydrophobic (water repellent) occlusive to the skin. I love this for slugging. I have combo skin, but this doesn’t clog my pores. My skin feels plump the next morning and I notice my closed comedones getting flatter the more I slug. I also use this for any scratches or open wounds as a barrier to help them heal faster. It’s amazing how such a simple and inexpensive product can do so much!

I got this because it was one of the products I used two years ago that moisturized my skin without making me oily. However, they came out with a new formula earlier this year. I decided to try it anyways and right off the bat I could tell it was different. The old formula was unscented. I'm sensitive to scents, and the new one smells like strong herbal shampoo.
