Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.

So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.

You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!

Humectant, Skin Conditioning, Skin Protecting
Loved

Glycerin is already naturally found in your skin. It helps moisturize and protect your skin.

A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.

As a humectant, it helps the skin stay hydrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.

Hydrated skin improves your skin barrier; Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.

Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.

In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.

This ingredient is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.

Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.

I use this cleanser when travelling, as it’s available under 100ml.

It doesn’t contain any nasties for my skin, ticks all of the right boxes, and - crucially - doesn’t cause breakouts! It’s very simple and gets the job done and a reasonable price.

Drying though! Strips the skin, so I probably won’t re-buy.

I've been using this for long enough now to confirm it's really working. I bought it because it's FA safe, non comedogenic and because of the few ingredients and the fact it's packed with ceramides. I have very sensitive, reactive skin and it doesn't irritate it. It's very gentle, hydrating and calming. This one foams just a little, so if you like lots of foam, it isn't for you. I don't feel sqeaky after this which is amazing, I just feel clean. I suspect it's my new favourite cleanser. My only issue is it's 20$ and I doubt it needs to be that expensive.
Update: the single best cleanser I ever used. HG tier. Take my 20$ and let me cleanse
Update: I've nearly run out and It's been 9 months. But I only use it in the PM, 1 pump. Also, I sometimes skip a day as someone whose skin in general dislikes cleansing, which is why it was so difficult to find one that my skin would tolerate in the first place!

Umm been using 1 week and think it may be my HG! Leaves my combo acne prone sensitive skin feeling soft and has not broken me out — not sure if I can provide updates but very happy I found this since my skin is reactive to everything it seems like and if it doesn’t break me out then it causes redness. Pls never reformulate 🙏🏼 for my sensitive skin friends I’d say this is worth a try even for $20 bucks.
