Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.

So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.

You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. Talk about multi-purpose! If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!

1,2-Hexanediol is a multi-tasker ingredient. It acts as a preservative to increase shelf-life and can aid other preservatives in preventing microbe growth. 1,2-Hexanediol also helps the skin retain moisture as a humectant.

In products that are water-based, this ingredient can help stabilize perfumes and fragrances. It can also help make the texture of products softer and more smooth.

Light but moisturizing
I now understand the praise this product has received because now it is one of my favorites too! The consistency is more on the watery side, so I was surprised that not only is this product hydrating, but moisturizing as well because it is very effective at locking in that hydration. This toner is able to accomplish this without feeling too heavy on the face. I also noticed an improvement in skin tone evenness and brightness while using this product. I would recommend this product to just about anyone as it is very gentle. (just remember to shake it first before applying, as it separates when left still in the bottle)

One of my favourite skincare products. Leaves my dry skin soft, silky, nourished, and extremely hydrated. It contains 77.78% Oryza sativa extract. Rice water is rich in minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants, and it is known to brighten skin, reduce scars, increase general skin elasticity, and soothe irritated, sensitive skin. It also has oil-controlling and hydrating qualities. The milky toner absorbs quickly. I apply 1 - 7 layers (7 skins method) and get a wonderful, super hydrated (even moisturised) result. The vegan and cruelty-free toner comes in a plastic bottle and cardboard FSC-mix packaging.

I've tried this essence twice now, and honestly I still have complicated feelings. The most recent trial of this I tried it for about a week and a half, and for my skin that's more than enough time to test out a product and see if it breaks me out or not.

Before the 1 week mark, I started noticing new breakouts on my forehead, which is VERY unusual for my skin since I never break out on those areas, although it was also my biggest breakout spot when I recently tried TO's pink serum, which broke me out pretty badly. So I guess my forehead is my new breakout area now and my biggest indication in wether or not a product works for me or not.

I was initially planning on extending another week to test this out, but I'm opting to stop using it now. I just don't want to risk this breakout to get worse, and I also want to observe how my skin acts when I'm not using it. So yes, I think my skin is not fond of Mugwort as I did notice new acne come up when using this product.

Maybe I'll test it again someday, but right now I'm going to discontinue. I will say, the texture and experience of this essence was divine. The slip it had and how hydrating it was was amazing. But some products just don't work for me and my skin, and this is one of them.
