Cyclopentasiloxane, or D5, is a silicone used to improve texture of products and trap moisture.
D5 is considered lightweight and volatile. Volatile means it evaporates quickly after application. Once evaporated, D5 leaves a thin barrier that helps keep skin hydrated.
It is also an emollient. Emollients help soften the skin and prevent water loss. Silicones create a silky texture in products. D5 helps other ingredients become more spreadable.

I really like the texture of this SPF and the finish makes my pores look much less noticeable. This one is a bit drier than the AM moisturizing version (which I prefer). I do like that it's more tinted than the AM moisturizing version, but the tint is too orange for me and they don't make other colors. I haven't had great success using it as a primer. I have a dedicated primer that I prefer. So I Show more

My favorite SPF. Looks great under makeup, no irritation (I’m cautious about what products I’m using at one time that have niacinamide, so I’m not doubling up) I’ve had no breakouts or issues with this. It’s half the price of a lot of sunscreens out there, which is a plus. Love that it’s FA-safe.
EDIT: If you have hyperpigmentation, I recommend adding a fully mineral sunscreen on top of this. Show more
