Mandelic acid is effective in concentrations of 5% and up with an ideal pH range of 3-4 for at-home use.

Imidazolidinyl Urea is a synthetic antimicrobial preservative. It works by slowly releasing small amounts of formaldehyde to keep bacteria, yeast, and mold from growing.
