Ingredients Explained

These ingredients are found in both products.

Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.

Skin Conditioning, Solvent

Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.

So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.

You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!

I used this cleanser for a couple of years and used to love it because the ingredients were wonderful. Then, my skin became really dry and rough, and I found that this cleanser has a ph of 9, which is well above the skin's healthy pH. A good cleanser should be between 4.5-5.5 (better to be slightly acidic). Because the SVR cleanser's pH is so alkaline, it dries out the skin and does Show more

Smells horrible like old wine or something, I usually don't care for smell but this was strange. Another small thing, bottle is so narrow and too tall for any of my bathroom shelves. Even Cerave and Cetaphil cleansers with more amount of Show more
