Ingredients Explained

These ingredients are found in both products.

Ingredients higher up in an ingredient list are typically present in a larger amount.

Skin Conditioning, Solvent

Water. It's the most common cosmetic ingredient of all. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product.

So why is it so popular? Water most often acts as a solvent - this means that it helps dissolve other ingredients into the formulation.

You'll also recognize water as that liquid we all need to stay alive. If you see this, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated!

Buffering, Masking

Citric Acid is an AHA derived from citrus fruits (think oranges, lemons, and limes!).

As an AHA, Citric Acid removes the top layer of skin cells from the newer layer of skin underneath. This helps skin to remove dark spots and even out skin tone.

If you spot Citric Acid near the end of an ingredient list, it's likely there as a pH adjuster rather than an active ingredient.

This product is so gentle and inoffensive. It hasnt improved my issue, but unlike most cleasers filled with terrible ingredients it doesn't worsen them. It cleans your face. That's what a cleanser should do. I always stock up on this one.

Love it!
I bought it because I was looking for a FA safe and sulfate free cleanser and it had good reviews on Sephora's website and turns out it's probably one of the best cleansers I've ever bought! It's very gentle, after cleasing I feel my skin so clean, smooth and clear.

I've been using this cleanser for years now and we are inseparable. Such an underrated product! The texture is gel-like, doesn't lather but still provides a thorough cleanse and a "clean" feeling while being super gentle and non-stripping. It also promotes wound healing. I used it during some bad allergic reactions and it helped my skin calm down. It reminds me of the Bioderma Sensibio cleanser, Show more

I really wanted to like this product, and I did for about a week, until I started to break out. It was quite painful, little whiteheads along my jawline. I wondered if this was purging but looking at the ingredients I'm not convinced this product should do that. It may have something to do with the protective film it leaves on your skin, It appears to be derived from coconut oil.
