Glycerin is already naturally found in your skin. It helps moisturize and protect your skin.

A study from 2016 found glycerin to be more effective as a humectant than AHAs and hyaluronic acid.

As a humectant, it helps the skin stay hydrated by pulling moisture to your skin. The low molecular weight of glycerin allows it to pull moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.

Hydrated skin improves your skin barrier; Your skin barrier helps protect against irritants and bacteria.

Glycerin has also been found to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Due to these properties, glycerin is often used in wound and burn treatments.

In cosmetics, glycerin is usually derived from plants such as soybean or palm. However, it can also be sourced from animals, such as tallow or animal fat.

This ingredient is organic, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic.

Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.

I am somebody with fungal acne and very dry skin. This is one of the few FA safe moisturizers I have used. Overall, this has been a solid moisturizer. However, it is pricey and packaging really needs to be updated or changed.

Pros:
-fungal acne safe
- lightweight; texture is between a cream and gel with very good spread- ability
- has 5% urea
-my skin has become considerably smoother and softer
- decent job at moisturizing my skin

Cons:
- feels too “siliconey” ; takes a while to absorb
- can sting sometimes because of high amount of urea. I found that it can be especially irritating when I have a damaged moisture barrier.
-PACKAGING!!! I used to experience a lot of product oozing out of the bottle but I think they’ve tried to fix that by not filling up the bottle as much. I haven’t experienced that issue in recent purchases. HOWEVER, the tube cap is SO easy to drop. It’s irritating when I’m trying to close the tube and the cap slips out my hands. Also, it’s hard to get product out of the tube without the tube key that you have to buy separately 🤦‍♀️ .
- pricey for 1.7 ounces. I have seen the price of this moisturizer increase significantly. As of January 2024, this product costs $28 for a 1.7 ounce tube. To put that into perspective, the Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Cream (FA safe) is 2.7 ounces for that same price.
