Understanding the Product Page

Last updated 4 months ago

This article walks you through each section you’ll see and how to use it.

Product Overview

At the top of the page, you’ll see the brand name, product name, and an image showing the latest known packaging. This helps you confirm that you are viewing the correct product.

You’ll also find a brief description that includes the product category such as cleanser, moisturizer, or serum, the total number of ingredients, and notable ingredients in the formula.

From here, you can save the product to your routine or shelves, or compare it with other products.

Match Score

The Match Score shows how well the product aligns with your skin profile. It is calculated based on your skin type, concerns, ingredient preferences, and lifestyle considerations.

A higher score means the product is more likely to suit your skin.

You can learn more in our article on how SkinSort determines the match score.

Where to Buy

SkinSort does not sell products directly, and this section lists available retailers where you can purchase the product. Clicking a link will take you directly to the retailer’s site.

What’s Inside

This section provides a quick snapshot of key product tags, such as whether the product is fragrance-free, alcohol-free, vegan, cruelty-free, silicone-free, or fungal acne-safe.

These tags are especially helpful for users managing sensitivities or specific preferences. Clicking a tag opens a short explanation of what it means and which ingredients influence it.

Ingredient List

The Ingredients List shows the full ingredient list as provided by the brand, displayed in standard INCI format. Because of this, it may look slightly different from what appears on the packaging.

You can click on any ingredient to view details such as what it is, what it does, how commonly it is used, and whether you want to mark it as liked or avoided.

If you notice an issue with the ingredient list, you can click Suggest Edit below the list to let us know.

Find Dupes

Clicking Find Dupes generates similar products with comparable functions or formulation.

You can learn more in our support article on the skincare dupe finder tool.

Key ingredients

This section highlights the main ingredient groups in the product, such as exfoliants, antioxidants, humectants, or soothing agents.

These ingredients play a key role in what the product is designed to do. Selecting a category will show the specific ingredient in the formula that belongs to that group, along with its function.

This makes it easier to understand why the product works the way it does and how it may support your skin goals.

Benefits and concerns

Here, you’ll see a breakdown of potential benefits and concerns based on the ingredient list.

Clicking on a benefit or concern shows which ingredients contribute to it.

This can be helpful for understanding real-world experiences with the product.

Keeping Product Pages Up to Date

Brands may reformulate products from time to time, so you might occasionally spot information that needs updating.

If that happens, you can click Suggest Edit below the ingredient list or send us a message at [email protected], and we’ll be happy to review it.
