What is the SkinSort App Product Scanner?

The SkinSort Product Scanner is an app-exclusive feature that lets you quickly scan physical products and analyze their ingredient lists.

It’s designed to help you instantly find products and understand what’s inside them, with science-backed insights on key ingredients, benefits, and potential concerns.

How to Use the Scanner

  1. Open the app and tap the purple Scan button above the tab bar.
  2. Choose one of the following options: a) Take a photo of the front of the product, or b) Scan the product’s barcode
  3. Once a product is successfully detected, you’ll be taken to its product page, where you can view: a) Full ingredient list b) Ingredient insights c) Benefits and concerns d) Compatibility with your preferences

If a Product isn’t Found

If we’re unable to detect the product, you’ll see two alternative options:

A. Scan the Ingredient Label
Take a photo of the ingredient list on the back of the product to generate an instant analysis.

B. Report a Missing Product

Help us grow our database by submitting the product. You’ll be asked to provide:
1. Product name
2. Brand
3. Where you bought it (optional)

Our team will review your submission and add it to our database as soon as possible.

Paste Ingredient List

You can also skip scanning entirely and manually paste an ingredient list for analysis. To do this:
1. Tap the purple Scan button
2. Tap the Note icon in the top right corner
3. Paste the ingredient list and tap Analyze.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use good lighting when scanning
  • Keep your camera steady
  • Make sure the text or barcode is clearly visible

Common Troubleshooting Tips

If you’re having trouble using the scanner:

  • Make sure camera permissions are enabled for the app
  • Update the app to the latest version for the best experience

Your privacy matters to us. Images captured by the scanner are only used for analysis, and SkinSort is committed to protecting your data.
