What You’ll Find on the Ingredient Page
Ingredient Overview
At the top of the page, you’ll see a quick summary containing tags that highlight the ingredient’s main benefits and potential concerns. These tags provide an at-a-glance introduction to the ingredient, and users can tap or click them to learn more.
The overview may also indicate whether the ingredient is generally liked, commonly avoided, or has mixed reactions among users.
Like or Avoid Preferences
Below the overview, users can mark an ingredient as either liked or avoided.
Selecting either option automatically adds the ingredient to your list of liked or avoided ingredients on your profile. These preferences can be updated at any time through the Settings page.
Marking ingredients as liked or avoided also helps personalize recommendations and improve product match scores throughout the platform.
Ingredient Description
Our team provides a detailed explanation for each ingredient based on available research and formulation information.
This section may also explain why an ingredient is marked as vegan-friendly, fungal acne-safe, fragrance-free, and more, when applicable.
You’ll also find information about the ingredient’s common uses in skincare and cosmetic formulations.
Community Preference Data
This section shows the percentage of users who like or avoid the ingredient. These insights reflect community preferences and user experiences with that ingredient.
Main Functions
Here, you’ll find an overview of the ingredient’s primary functions in formulations, such as:

How to Explore Different Ingredients
On the SkinSort Website
1. Click Tools on the nav bar.
2. Select Ingredients Dictionary.
3. Search for the ingredient you’d like to learn more about.
4. Alternatively, you can also access ingredient pages directly from a product page by selecting any ingredient listed in the ingredient list.
On the SkinSort App
1. Open a product page.
2. Under the ingredient list, tap any ingredient you’d like to learn more about.
3. A pop-up page will appear containing additional information about that ingredient.
