Why we don't mark products as pregnancy-safe

Last updated about 1 year ago

Our mission has always been to help make skincare easier. We always strive to provide information and transparency to help our users understand the products they are using.

We do not have a pregnancy-safe or breastfeeding-safe tag when it comes to a product’s safety, and here is why:

Everyone’s pregnancy journey is different

Skin conditions during pregnancy and breastfeeding vary due to changes in the body during these periods.

What’s safe or unsafe may differ from person to person, depending on their unique situations. Because of this, we do not label any product as “pregnancy-safe” or “not pregnancy-safe”.

Best advice is from a medical professional

We strongly recommend seeking advice from a licensed dermatologist or medical professional before using any new product while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Given the unique health considerations associated with pregnancy and breastfeeding, dermatologists and medical professionals are best equipped to provide skincare advice that considers your medical history and individual needs.

What we can help with

While we don’t tag products as “pregnancy-safe”, you may use our disliked ingredient feature instead.

If there are ingredients you’d prefer to avoid, or as advised by a doctor, you can add that ingredient to your disliked ingredients. You will see your disliked ingredients highlighted in red in products that contain the ingredients. You may also hide the product entirely from your search results.

To do this, kindly go to your account's Settings and click Avoided Ingredients, where you can add ingredients you wish to avoid.

We value your safety, especially during important life changes such as pregnancy and breastfeeding.

While we can’t offer medical advice, we’re always working to make SkinSort a helpful and transparent platform for all users.
