  2. Under the ingredient list, select any ingredient you would like to learn more about.
  3. A pop-up page will appear containing information about the particular ingredient.

How it works

Each ingredient page includes:

  • The SkinSort community’s opinion, whether they like, dislike, or feel mixed about the ingredient.
  • Tags at the top for a quick overview, including the ingredient’s classification, benefits, and common concerns.
  • A detailed explanation based on peer-reviewed research and scientific data, ensuring accuracy.
  • Additional information, such as what the ingredient does, alternative names, and prevalence in skincare products.
  • A list of references if you want to learn more about the ingredient.

If you’re accessing the Ingredients Dictionary via the SkinSort website, you’ll find a search bar at the top where you can type any ingredient you would like to learn about.

You can also browse from the popular ingredients featured on the homepage.

A link to view all products containing the ingredient is also provided, making it convenient to find the most suitable product for your skin.
