Last year I started having issues with fungal acne, and after a lifetime of extremely sensitive skin, I decided to cut down on actives and focus on a simpler routine narrowing down on ingredients I know agree with my skin and minimizing others such as niacinamide (which I can't seem to tolerate very well in higher % or if I have too many products containing it), vit C and strong acids.

Will give feedback on how this routine works out in the long haul.

Update:

Most of my (apparent) FA and eczema flares (which my dermatologist suspects is an atopic dermatitis cocktail yay) have subsided since starting this routine. However I'm still experiencing occasional sensitivity, FA-like bumps (mainly on forehead) and some inflamed acne on my neck and sides of cheeks.

For this reason, when I finish my current products I'll be making changes and experimenting with an altered routine.

✅ The product that made the biggest positive difference for me was for sure my prescription Protopic, which I'm still on for the next 3 months. The Propolis toner was nice and calming and I rediscovered the Biome Ampoule Toner (lovely texture and absorbs nicely) which I really enjoyed. The Anua BHA toner is a keeper, gentle yet effective (specially at clearing blackheads on my nose).

🫤The Goodal SPF I enjoyed but I'm looking to go back to a more affordable option that doesn't sting my eyes. The Torriden toner pads don't feel like a necessity either.

❌ Although I wanted to love it, I'll be giving away the Nineless Azelaic Acid as I'm pretty sure the niacinamide in it isn't doing me any favours. The Be Plain toner I'll be finishing but I didn't find it did anything for me, feels like water and is neither particularly hydrating or calming. The Be Plain gel feels nice and cooling but not hydrating enough to use on its own so I won't be repurchasing. I'll also be switching my oil cleanser for a micellar water as I'm concerned it might be aggravating some acne on the perimeter or my face.
