Mid-40s, trying to learn more about Black skincare routines to deal with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
Currently (Jan 2024) dealing with a random but persistent bout of acne on my left cheek.
Acne + PIH? Ain't nobody got time for that

I have been using Duac Gel which contains Clindamycin (an anti-biotic) and Benzoyl Peroxide (5%) every night for nearly a month. It has cleared up my acne but I am left with Postinflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).
To counter this I have switched to using Duac in the AM and using the following ingredients at night:
Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun: Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow: Contains 15% vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Tue/Thu/Sat: Medik8 Crystal Retinal 1 Night Serum (0.01% retinaldehyde)
Cycling on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun
Good Molecules Discolouraton Serum: ( Niacinamide & Cetyl Tranexamate Hcl (a derivative of tranexamic acid)
Topicals Faded: (Kojic acid, Melatonin, Azelaic acid & niacinamide)
These two products while not identical are supposed to do the same things. I am still testing to see which is more effective and suitable for my sensitive skin. So on days that I do not use retinol, I use either one or the other (NEVER BOTH).
Once I finish my Duac prescription (another 2 months to go) I will change up the routine again

I have switched to using this in the morning and retinol at night. Duac is very effective and as the acne heals I am left with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

As a dark skinned Black woman I need a sunscreen with no whitecast. This is it, at least, if applying only once. Another important note: it does not sting my eyes.

I use this at night for now because I am using Duac in the morning. Once I finish my Duac prescription I will move this back to every morning.

I use this every night after my main active (either 15 minutes after vitamin C or 30 minutes after retinol)
It helps dampen my skin before I apply hyaluronic acid
