Been dealing with painful acne since my teens, and only in the past few years have I gotten it really under control. Not only is my acne mostly gone, but I've also been able to improve my PIH/PIE and my dry rough skin. Now I'm a skincare addict, however I've given myself a $30 limit for each product (there are a few exceptions as occasionally I buy something on sale for $30 or less when it's normally more). So feel free to explore my routine and liked products for affordable recommendations.
AND SUNSCREEN IS A MUST! I'm very fair and experience sun allergies when outside without protection for very long. The bumps are itchy and can be red and painful. They can take about two weeks to go away completely so I try to be very diligent about sun protection.

Commonly disliked ingredients that DO NOT bother my skin:
• Fragrance (I don't go overboard and will still avoid it where I can)
• Astringents such as alcohol, witch hazel, or birch sap (when formulated into products)
• Citrus extracts (I do try to avoid citrus oils however)
• Tea tree oil (if formulated into a product it's fine, but I still try to avoid other essential oils)
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
Commonly liked ingredients that DO bother my skin:
• Vitamin C (especially in higher percentages, it often stings)
• Glycolic acid (especially in higher percentages, often makes me red. I prefer PHAs or BHAs with less than 0.5% strength)

How I personally rate and review products:
⭐️ Terrible! Who was this product even meant for? I cannot recommend that anybody use it.
⭐️⭐️ Absolutely did not work for me at all, but it might for some people. Still, I can’t say I recommend the product. I believe there's a better alternative out there.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s not awful and didn't do anything terrible to my skin, but I personally did not enjoy using the product or see many results. Although, I imagine it could work well for some people.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Product works, but there’s just something about it I wish was better or different.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing! Product works very well and is enjoyable to use. I highly recommend!

Best cleanser for dehydrated skin!
With 50% glycerin, this is the best cleanser I’ve found for dehydrated skin. It’s smooth, gentle, and fragrance free. The texture is a little slimy which is fun but it still foams up very nicely. Plus, this comes in a huge 13.5 oz bottle, so if you are only using this for your face then it’s gonna last you a long time. However, personally I’ve found I actually prefer this as a body wash. That’s not to say that I don’t like this cleanser for my face, it’s just that the skin on my face suffers more from dryness than dehydration so I prefer a cleanser that delivers moisture as well as hydration to the skin. What I mean by that is that this cleanser contains glycerin which is a great hydrating ingredient that delivers water to the skin (ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, etc, are hydrating), but it doesn’t really moisturize my skin by locking in water to help prevent transepidermal water loss (ingredients like petroleum jelly, shea butter, and some types of oils like jojoba oil, argan oil, etc, are moisturizing). Having said that, if you’re dealing with dehydrated skin than this is a cleanser that I think you must check out, but if it’s dryness you are dealing with I suggest looking for a cleanser that is labeled as creamy or milky and isn’t oil free (my moisturizing cleanser recommendations would be the Hero Cosmetics Gentle Milky Cleanser or the Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Cleanser). For dehydrated skin, this is easily a five star product so I hope you give it a try if it sounds like something you’d enjoy. This product is definitely gonna remain a staple in my body routine.

A gentle addition to your acne routine
I like this product for days when I don’t want to use stronger actives and my skin just needs a break. I think this ampoule would be a good add-on to a routine, however I would not rely on it alone to treat your spots; I believe it would be best to use it along side something else like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or a retinoid. Having said that however, this isn’t the easiest product to apply. My biggest gripe with this product is the consistency. It’s very watery so it’s easy to drip or spill it somewhere by accident. I’ve been mixing this with my toner/essences to make it easier to apply, but I kind of wish that AMPLE:N had just released this as a toner in a bigger bottle rather than this small ampoule. It’s still a nice product, so you might want to check it out if your skin likes propolis.

Update March 2024: I’m not gonna change my old rating because allergies/sensitivities are not universal, but I just wanted to make this update as a word of caution for anyone with reactionary prone skin. It is possible to develop new allergies over time and unfortunately that’s what happened to me. I’ve been using this cream since February 2023 but recently the patches of skin where I use this cream become inflamed, red, itchy, flakey, etc. I had to use a prescription steroid ointment to treat it, so it was pretty bad. My best guess is that it is due to whatever specific fragrance blend Lion uses in this cream, but I’m not entirely sure. Not all products with fragrance bother my skin but this one sure does, so if you have reactionary skin please just be careful.

Original Review July 2023:
A unique and gentle approach to adult acne
This product is so different compared to other acne products I’ve tried. (From what I’ve heard) this product is marketed in Japan for the treatment of adult acne and is often found in the pharmaceutical section of the drug store rather than the cosmetic. The active ingredients in this are ibuprofen piconol (IPPN) and isopropyl methylphenol (IPMP). IPPN is a topical ibuprofen so it is anti-inflammatory, and IPMP is antibacterial. This cream is so gentle and works amazingly for calming down tender and inflamed pimples. Some spot treatments are hard to blend into skin and just kinda sit on top, but not this one! It’s super gentle and blends away into skin effortlessly, so it’s easy to wear under makeup. I recommend this to anyone with adult acne OR just anyone who wants to try a slightly different approach to treating their breakouts. I’ve really loved the results so far.

I love this cream, but the price hurts my soul (and wallet).
I personally don’t like to spend more than $30 on a single product, so I suggest waiting for a sale or buying a smaller size (this product is offered in 4 sizes, with the 1.7 Fl Oz jar being the default at $48). This moisturizer just works so well for my dry skin. It’s not too heavy and it absorbs quickly, but my skin is still left feeling very moisturized and soft. I’ve even seen that it helps to calm my redness. There’s a slight sweet and honey-esque smell to this cream, but it doesn’t linger and disappears after application so it’s not overpowering, but if you are sensitive to fragrance just keep in mind that this product contains “aroma”, which is just another word for fragrance. I think a lot of people would enjoy this product, so if you are on the hunt for a good moisturizer I recommend checking this one out, but like I said before, I think waiting for a sale is the best time to pick this one up because it is a bit pricy in my opinion.

I like the idea, but the execution could have been better…
Occasionally I enjoy a physical exfoliant, but finding a good one can be tricky. When I saw that Peace Out had one that used hydrogenated jojoba oil as its exfoliant and that it was in a balm type formula I was intrigued as someone with dry acne prone skin. I like that it has ingredients like niacinamide and salicylic acid. It has got a good grit; the exfoliant is not too harsh or uneven (like fruit seeds/nut shells sometimes are) AND it’s not too gentle/ineffective like products that exfoliate by balling up on themselves like peeling gels (personal experience, no hate if peeling gels work for you). However, I do find that this product isn’t the easiest to spread and so it ends up dragging on the skin. This can be easily fixed by adding a little water or even an oil cleanser to the balm to help it glide across the skin easier. But it also leaves a very noticeable film on the skin. Again, this can be negated by using a second cleanse/water based cleanser after this to wash off that waxy feeling layer left behind. Having said that however, I don’t think this is a very good first cleanse anyway. Peace Out says themselves that this should not be used around the eyes, so although this can be used to remove face makeup/sunscreen, you’re gonna have to use something else to remove your eye makeup/sunscreen. This product can be a little bit of hassle to use, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it. It’s nice and since I only use it once in awhile the cons don’t bother me too much. But I don’t know if I’ll be repurchasing this once I finish it up. I might if I don’t find a better alternative, but in the end this is a product I can live with or without.

So calming and hydrating!
I LOVE sheet masks, but I can be a little picky when it comes to the ingredients. Every other sheet mask I enjoy tends to come individually packaged, meaning the price per mask really adds up! This is the first sheet mask I’ve found where the ingredients are incredible AND you get 30 masks for a great deal (I was able to get this on sale for $26. The price is normally around $30-$35, which is still a good deal in my opinion for quality sheet masks). I love the soothing ingredients this mask contains such as centella and aloe. Plus it’s very hydrating with several forms of hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and urea.
I believe this mask would work for just about anyone; dry, oily, sensitive, etc. If you love sheet masks I highly recommend checking out this product.

Packed full of amazing ingredients!
This is one of my favorite serums for aiding in skin barrier health. The ingredient list is really impressive, but some stand outs that my skin just loves would be the ceramides, peptides, niacinamide, oatmeal extract, algae extract, cholesterol, and squalane (plus much more!). The consistency of this serum is on the thicker side, which I prefer to more watery serums because I find thicker serums easier to apply. The formula is hydrating with ingredients like glycerin, betaine, and hyaluronic acid, but I definitely recommend using a good moisturizer to lock in this serum. Overall, it’s just a great product that I imagine many people could benefit from. If you are looking for a barrier support/peptide serum this is a wonderful option that I would highly recommend.

My go to microdart pimple patch
These patches are one of the most effective over the counter products I’ve found to deal with inflamed under the skin blemishes. I’ve found that if I catch an under the skin pimple quick enough I can sometimes tackle it in 2-3 days with these patches, which is so much quicker than if I just let it run its course. I have some pretty stubborn hormonal acne around my chin, and I really don’t know what I would do without these. I’ve tried a couple of other brands microdart patches (Zitsticka and Hero Cosmetics) but the Peach Slices are my preferred pick because of the price and the number of patches you get in a packet. The only reason I would go with something else is if you have a sensitivity to one of the ingredients in the Peach Slices patches (such as tea tree, which the Hero Cosmetic patches do not contain).
I highly recommend these patches for anyone who deals with inflamed and deep acne.

Used to be my favorite, but still a good option.
I’ve gone through a lot of these over the years, (according to my order history I’ve bought these at least 7 times). They really are amazing for early stage, under the skin, and painful pimples. However, over the past year I’ve switched to using the Peach Slices Deep Blemish Microdarts for a couple of reasons. 1) the price of the PS patch is a little cheaper and 2) you get 9 patches with PS while HC patches only gives you 8. The two patches are very similar, and the only reason I would choose the Hero Cosmetic patches over the Peach Slices is if you have a sensitivity to tea tree (which the PS patches contain but the HC ones do not).

This product just wasn’t a good fit for me.
I wanted an eye cream with a tiny bit of coverage to help brighten my eye area without looking too heavy like concealer sometimes does on me. Unfortunately this product didn’t meet any of my expectations. This cream wasn’t moisturizing enough and this would cause the brightening pigment to cling to the dryer inner corners of my eyes. I tried to apply additional moisturizing products on underneath to help this lay better, but then I ALWAYS had problems with this product pilling. I couldn’t layer this with anything. This also stung occasionally when I applied it so it was literally a pain to use. I’m just glad I got this on sale because the regular price (around $30!) just isn’t worth it.
I suppose I can see how this may still work for some people, but I believe there’s better and more affordable alternatives out there. I’ve currently been using Naturium’s Vitamin Bright Illuminating Eye Cream and been having much better results. Plus it’s more affordable and comes in different shades. If you want my advice, go with the Naturium option over this First Aid Beauty eye cream.

Hypochlorous Acid is a HOLY GRAIL ingredient!
This spray has helped treat both my acne and eczema! The antimicrobial properties of hypochlorous acid are amazing!
There are several different hypochlorous acid sprays on the market (many of which are quite similar) so I personally don’t think you could really go wrong with any of them, however here are a few reasons why this Base Laboratories spray is my go to.
1) The size. You get 8oz of product so this will last you awhile (for comparison, the Tower 28 spray is only 4oz). 2) The price. As of writing this review, this spray is only $13! 3) The added ingredients. Every other hypochlorous acid spray that I’ve seen has an extremely simple ingredient list. That may be helpful for someone with sensitive skin, but that’s not me. I appreciate the addition of ingredients like hyaluronic acid and chamomile (plus I suspect that these added ingredient help to cover the bleach smell some people complain about when it comes to hypochlorous acid sprays. This product has a very subtle nice smell). 4) The concentration. According to the ingredient list on the back of my box, this contains 0.02% hypochlorous acid. Every other spray that I’ve seen usually only has concentrations of 0.01% or 0.015%. 5) The packaging. Ok, packaging isn’t that important but I’ve just gotta say it… like every other affordable spray out there is ugly. The packaging is so boring and/or medical looking. I like that this spray comes in a pink can! It’s cute!
If you struggle with acne, eczema, or rosacea, I highly recommend you try a product with hypochlorous acid. This powerhouse ingredients can help treat several skin concerns while still being gentle on skin. I LOVE IT!

Gentle exfoliation + soothing ingredients!

I’ve really enjoyed using these toner pads after my micellar water (I don’t like using cleanser in the morning, too drying for my skin). The pads themselves have two sides (one rougher, and one softer) that provide gentle physical exfoliation, while the BHA chemically exfoliates the skin using betaine salicylate (which is a little more gentle than salicylic acid). These also contain heartleaf and centella which are soothing ingredients that I love! This product has never bothered my skin, even on days where my skin barrier is not in the best of shape. There’s also tea tree in these to help combat acne— and you can tell! These smell of tea tree, which I like but I know it’s not everyones favorite scent. It doesn't linger, but just be aware that these have fragrance. Also, when I first opened this product I didn’t feel like these pads had a ton of toner in them, but after using them I realized they weren’t dry, just really absorbent. After swiping my face I like to fold the little pad up and squeeze out any excess product into my other hand. You get a good amount of toner by doing this and you can apply that extra product onto your skin if desired. These are also on the more affordable side compared to other toner pads i’ve seen!

I recommend this product for acne prone skin, but if you are sensitive you may find the fragrance to be a bit strong so just keep that in mind.

Annoyed at the marketing
This isn’t a bad product, let me first start by saying that. Green tea can be wonderful for oily skin because it can help balance sebum production. But I bought this towards the beginning of my skin care journey when I wasn’t familiar with ingredients so I always had to take the brands word for it and/or just buy what was popular. This is marketed as HYDRATING and suited for sensitive, oily, and DRY skin. Sure, I guess if you have dry skin you can use it… but it won’t feel like it is doing anything. I used the whole bottle, questioning the entire time why I spent money on useless leaf water. If you have dry skin you don’t need this. Dry skin folks like me do not need to balance sebum production and this is nowhere near hydrating enough for my needs. (also, in my experience centella and/or heartleaf are way better soothing ingredients than green tea if that is your goal) For me, this product felt like a waste of money, although I will acknowledge it can be very helpful for others. I just wish that the listing I bought this from said something along the lines of “best suited for oily and combo skin”.

MICRONIZED benzoyl peroxide is a miracle worker!
This product was a dermatologist recommendation to me, and I’m so so so grateful because it has done wonders for my skin. Micro BPO is able to penetrate the skin deeper while also being more gentle than regular BPO. This is a leave on product with a creamy consistency, and since it is Neutrogena it is very affordable and accessible (which are both things I LOVE). It’s not a spot treatment, but I’ve used it on spots and as a preventative and it works very well at tackling both my active acne and preventing new breakouts. Occasionally it will tingle on my skin if my skin barrier is not in the best state, but most of the time I can’t feel this at all. I also like to apply this in a similar way to how I would strong retinoids; buffering or sandwiching. Apply a thick moisturizer on first before applying this product (buffering), and if desired you can add on another layer of moisturizer after applying this BPO cream (sandwiching).
This is a must try! Especially if you know benzoyl peroxide works for your skin, but you also struggle with it being too drying. However, if you are particularly sensitive, it may be best to make sure you always remember to buffer this, don’t use it everyday, and when you do use it, do so sparingly rather than over large patches of skin.
I recommend this product to anyone with acne prone skin. It’s AMAZING.

Scent is subjective, so I’m sure there are people who enjoy the smell of this, but to me this has an overwhelming bad perfume sort of stink. It lingered on my skin all day. The other complaint I have is the packaging. This leaked and got all over the bottle in the mail. Ok, not too big of a deal, I’ll just wash the bottle. Easy, I thought. Nope. This was a pain to clean off and the bottle still felt a bit tacky when I finally gave up. Then, every time I used this and took the lid off and on, cracks would appear and grow in the plastic lid. This just felt so cheap for being a $34 product. No idea if this is an effective SPF, because I couldn’t stand to use it for more then a few days. I can’t recommend this product to anyone. There’s definitely better and more affordable alternatives out there. Just buy the Hawaiian Tropic SPF weightless hydration dry oil spray if you want to add a glow to your body. So much more affordable and the scent is nice but much more subtle than this Naked Sundays body mist.

This is a great daytime moisturizer for dry skin!
What first drew me to this product was its name. I love snail mucin and the words “deep moisture cream” sounded like this would be wonderful for my dry skin. And it is! The ingredient list is also impressive, featuring several types of hyaluronic acid, several forms of centella asiatica, as well as snail mucin, shea butter, squalane, jojoba, licorice root, and more! Having said that however, I kinda expected a “deep moisture cream” to be heavier. This is more like medium weight moisturizer, so it might not be enough for dry skin at night, but I love this for daytime use. Also, despite snail mucin being high on the ingredient list, this moisturizer does not have a mucus like texture. It feels similarly to most moisturizers. BUT you should also keep in mind that this is a silicon free product because that affects how it applies. Depending on your wants, a silicon free moisturizer could be a pro or a con. For me, I just have to be aware of what I’m layering with this because without silicones this product sometimes has a harder time being rubbed in. That doesn’t bother me, but it is something I think potential buyers should be aware of.

The consistency is more on the watery side, so I was surprised that not only is this product hydrating, but moisturizing as well because it is very effective at locking in that hydration.
