nineteen years old ♡
⋆⁺₊⋆ oily acne prone skin which breaks out really easily
⋆⁺₊⋆ prone to mostly whiteheads small and big, noticable sebaceous filaments, dark spots/red marks after breakouts, and somtimes papules/pustules- my skin is also pretty sensitive

i’ve struggled with my skin since i was about 11, and didn’t use good products or have good knowledge about skincare/skin in general until around 2020/2021 which was when i started my research. i know a lot more now and have a genuine interest in learning about it!
when i was younger, i was a typical clean & clear,
clearasil, the body shop skincare, st ives user and pretty much used anything that was targeted towards oily blemish prone skin without having a clue what was in it. it of course didn’t help at all and sadly made it worse in the long run

i now do research on the ingredients of each product i buy and don’t buy a product straight away based on the marketing, trends or what other people have said (skincare influencers etc). my skin is generally a lot better than it was, but at times it’s very hard work. finding the right products also takes a lot of trial and error

even though i listed my skin concerns above, my skin is VERY complicated, and a lot of the time it’s hard to even determine what type of blemishes i’m dealing with. i also never can tell if i’m purging or not, and the amount of stuff that makes my skin worse is not okay. but ill get there one day :)

some commonly liked ingredients that break me out:
centella asiatica (crazy right)
oils (including squalene, but only usually in moisturisers)
snail mucin
higher concentrations of niacinamide
vitamin c

last point is that a big factor in my skin is also my health, i suffer from chronic illness and mental illness which makes it very hard for me to do my proper skincare everyday, which is frustrating as i know my skin could be a lot better if i were to do my skincare everyday, also better eating & lifestyle which come into it. but doing what i can and that’s what’s important <3
