About Spring 2024 Basic Maintenance

Description

Current reliable routine.

I've noticed I'm more prone to wrinkles than I used to be (especially smile lines) and I'm still pretty red, so I'd like to incorporate a retinoid (probably adapalene) and re-incorporate azelaic acid at some point, but I'm attending a wedding in June and don't want to take any chances ahead of time.

Switching to the Cetaphil Gentle Clear Complexion Clearing BPO Acne Cleanser made a huge difference in my acne without the irritation that even the acne.org BP topical caused. I've also learned to avoid salicylic acid due to irritation, which is unfortunate because it did clear my skin quite effectively; betaine salicylate (in both the COSRX Calming Liquid Mild and Purito BHA Dead Skin Moisture Gel) seems to be a reasonable alternative - there's no irritation and while it's not quite as immediately effective, it's still good with consistent use. I also incorporated Vanicream's Vitamin C serum a few months ago and while I'm not sure it's made a difference, I've been complimented on my skin several times since it became a regular part of my routine.
