How to find your skin type

Here’s the complete truth - the answer to this is a bit tricky.

The best way to learn your skin type is to consult with a professional such as a dermatologist. Dermatologists will be able to assess your skin, climate, lifestyle, and products to give you an accurate answer.

We understand this may not be a feasible option for all. There are a couple of tests you can perform at home. Please be aware these results may not be entirely accurate.

There are many factors that can change the results of these home tests: climate and weather, products you are using, lifestyle factors, and more.

At-home tests

  1. The 30-minute skin test: Start by thoroughly washing your face to remove any makeup or skincare. Do not apply anything else onto skin after drying. Set a 30 minute timer. Check how your skin feels after time is up.
  2. The Day Test: Go about your day and see how your skin looks and feels at night.

Results

After conducting one of the tests above, use this as reference:

  1. If your skin is slicky and oily, your skin type is oily
  2. If your skin feels tight and dry, your skin type is dry
  3. If your skin feels neither oily nor dry, your skin is normal
  4. If your skin is irritated, your skin is sensitive. Note: if your skin starts feeling irritated during the 30 minute test, we recommend stopping.
  5. If some parts of your skin are oily and others are dry, you have combination skin

Skin types vs concerns

Skin types differ from skin concerns. Skin concerns involve treating wrinkles, dark spots, dehydration, and more.

Example: Jacob, the co-founder, has sensitive skin type and has skin concerns of acne.
